Herodotus, often called the "Father of History," was an ancient Greek historian who wrote The Histories, detailing the Greco-Persian Wars and the customs of various cultures. Although Herodotus did not use charts in the modern sense, he employed descriptions of geographical features, genealogies, and lists of events to organise his narrative. His works include early forms of mapping and tabulation, such as accounts of distances between locations and the sizes of armies, which can be seen as precursors to charts. These elements helped to structure his historical writing and make complex information more accessible to his readers.
